Virginia Medicaid now covering various mental health services
The Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services announced that Virginia Medicaid now offers behavioral health services. Both adult and youth Medicaid recipients in the Commonwealth now have access to crisis services that focus on preventative care for mental illness.
Newly-covered services include mobile crisis response teams, short-term intervention services, intense outpatient therapy and counseling, and more. Officials say the goal with these services is to help stabilize individuals prior to, during, and after a crisis.
