Residents In Marion Neighborhood Shelter In Place While Armed, Standoff, Suspect Taken Into Custody
Residents in a Marion, Virginia neighborhood sheltered in place on Thursday evening as shots were fired during a standoff between an armed suspect and Marion Police. The so far unidentified suspect is in custody this morning after Marion Police and other law enforcement from southwest Virginia converged on a residence in the 200 block of Henderson Street around six pm. A confrontation took place between the subject and officers. The suspect then barricading himself inside the home, but was later taken into custody with the assistance of Virginia State Police, and the Smyth County Sheriff’s Department.
