Man accused of shooting Sullivan County deputy found unresponsive in jail cell
An inmate in the Sullivan County Jail was found unresponsive in his cell on Monday night. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation confirmed the inmate to be Alan Coulter, who was arrested for shooting an officer and causing a standoff that lasted hours last Friday. The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office says in a press release that officers were called to a cell occupied by three inmates at around 7 PM.
Upon entering the cell, officers discovered Coulter in a corner of the cell unresponsive. Officers began life-saving measures and Coulter was transported to a medical facility for treatment. No additional details on his condition have been released.
