Mt. Carmel man sentenced for death of Kingsport teenager
A Mt. Carmel man was sentenced in Scott County, Virginia Court on Wednesday, 3/16, for a fatal crash that killed a 15-year-old Kingsport boy. Steven Kissick, 24, was sentenced to 9 years and 6 months in prison for involuntary vehicular manslaughter.
The Office of Scott County Commonwealth’s Attorney, Kyle Kilgore says Kissick and the teenager, Kaleb McMurray were traveling to Nickelsville, VA, when Kissick wrecked the vehicle after smoking marijuana. The wreck caused the 15-year-old to suffer severe head trauma, and he was on life support for months before ultimately succumbing to his injuries more than a year after the crash. Kissick is charged in the involuntary death of Kaleb McMurray and will serve 9 years, 6 months, and 14 days– with probation to follow.
