Wythe County receives nearly $4 million in federal funding to support water services
Wythe County, Virginia is set to receive nearly $4 million in federal funding to support local water services. According to a statement from U.S. Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine (both D-VA), the U.S. Department of Agriculture awarded the county nearly $2 million in grant funding, and a matching loan.
The funds will go to construction and installation of around eight miles of water line, 92 water meters, 28 fire hydrants, and more related items. Senators Warner and Kaine say it is essential that Virginians have access to safe, clean water; and this project will help the Wythe County community transition from the use of private wells to a safer water system.
