TWRA confirms rare Longnose gar reeled in on French Broad River

For a Louisiana fisherman out on an excursion on the French Broad River in East Tennessee, this is the one that did not get away.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency received documentation of a rare catch reeled in by Greg Ursin. It was a solid black melanistic Longnose gar–a fish known for its pigment deformity that makes it very attractive to predators so few of them live past their young years.
