Virginia’s House Speaker blames previous administration for classroom woes due to COVID
A national clearinghouse for student performance says the COVID pandemic and lack of classroom time had a negative impact on US students’ math and reading skills.
The Nation’s Report Card issued by the National Assessment of Educational Process showed average scores declined in both subjects and grades.
Virginia House Leader Todd Gilbert blamed Democrats and the Northam administration for keeping schools closed longer than other states. He said the General Assembly would take corrective steps outlined by Governor Youngkin earlier this year following the announcement of low SOL scoring.
