Big Stone Gap man found guilty of taking indecent liberties with a child

A Big Stone Gap man was found guilty in Wise County Court on two counts of taking indecent liberties with a child. According to the Wise County Commonwealth’s Attorney, Michael Edmond Tripp, 49, committed the crime in the late fall of 2020.

Tripp was reportedly the live-in boyfriend of the victim’s grandmother. The grandmother of the 8-year-old girl contacted police once she discovered Tripp has sexually abused the child on two occasions. Michael Tripp is scheduled for sentencing February 10th, 2023.
