TEMA activates state of emergency due to frigid cold weather
After shocking cold temperatures, some as low as one degree, hit the region on Friday, the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency declared a state of emergency late that afternoon. The official TEMA website moved it’s current status to a Level 3 State of Emergency.
This means a serious emergency or minor disaster has occurred and public warnings are being issued, by TEMA definition. An emergency plan was activated automatically, and coordinators for state departments have been called to an emergency operations center to assist. Updates will be provided as they become available.
