Driver killed, passenger injured in Castlewood crash

State Police officials have released more details on a fatal Russell County, Virginia crash that occurred Monday night.

Machelle Brouillard, 64, of Castlewood, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck that occurred on Route 71 just before midnight.

A preliminary review said Brouillard’s car ran off the right side of the road, struck an embankment, overturning and ejecting her and a passenger out of the vehicle. The female rider was hospitalized with serious injuries.
