Wise County woman dies from injuries in SUV crash

Excessive speed is being investigated as the cause of a fatal crash in Wise County, Virginia.

A State Police report said an SUV driven by Susan Sturgill, 40, of Wise, was on Hurricane Road just before 3:30 that afternoon when the vehicle ran off the road.

The preliminary review says Sturgill, who later died of her injuries, overcorrected causing the SUV to swerve left and strike a guardrail and tree.
