Oliver to exit ETSU men’s basketball program

East Tennessee State University has started a national search after men’s head basketball coach Desmond Oliver was fired Friday.

Athletic Director Richard Sander said in a statement Oliver was not guiding the Buccaneer program to expectations since his hiring two years ago. Oliver was a noted recruiter at Tennessee that lured talent to Knoxville that propelled that program into the top 10 nationally.

Oliver put together a 27-37 record in Johnson City including an 8-10 Southern Conference mark this season.
