Felon Escapes Kingsport Jail…Pretends To Be Someone Else
Kingsport Police say a man escaped the city jail earlier this week by pretending to be someone else who was about to be released on bond. John C. Autry was first arrested Tuesday when police discovered he was wanted in Alabama. Later that evening, Autry was able to falsely identify himself as another prisoner who was in the process of being released. Autry escaped and broke into an art studio on Shelby Street and stole a car. Autry was finally arrested Wednesday at a residence in the Sevier Terrace neighborhood. Autry is facing a myriad of charges including escape, and burglary.
