Owner Of Plane That Crashes At Tri Cities Airport Identified
The owner of an experimental airplane that crashed short of Tri Cities Airport and injured him and one other passenger has been identified as Dr. Richard Knapp of Seale, Alabama. The name of the other passenger has not been released. Tri Cities Airport officials also say during the crash an instrument landing system light was damaged along the runway. Knapp, and the other passenger went down about five hundred short of Runway 23 Wednesday night. Witnesses say the plane sputtered, flipped and hit the ground. Knapp and the passenger were able to walk away from the wreckage with only minor injuries. The NTSB and the FAA are investigating the crash.
