VSP: Chevy truck driver flees after collision in Tazewell County

State Police reported a hit-and-run crash that left one person injured Thursday morning.

The preliminary review said a motorcycle rider had exited Route 460 in Raven located in Tazewell County when the bike was struck by a Chevrolet S-10 black pickup at the Redwood Rd intersection.

Investigators said the motorist in the truck fled the scene while the cyclist, a Tazewell County resident, was seriously injured and then flown to a Roanoke hospital for treatment.

Police want to interview the truck driver and need the public’s help in locating the person of interest. The report said the Chevy truck should have significant damage to the right front after troopers were able to access a property owner’s surveillance video system and capture an image of the truck.
