Comptroller wants accountability, improvement in Hancock County operations
State Comptroller Jason Mumpower wants accountability from a Northeast Tennessee county that he says has multiple audit problems yearly.
Mumpower’s report on operations in Hancock County four findings found last year have not been corrected and there’s no record of the county’s audit committee meeting during the fiscal year.
The statement also accuses the Hancock County mayor of using official funds to pay rent for a local soil conservation district office in a building owned by the mayor and his wife. The findings also said the county went over budget and there were mistakes found in purchasing and accounting records.
