Wise County deputies praised by sheriff for life-saving catch on Route 23 bridge
Wise County Sheriff Grant Kilgore had high praise for two of his officers who saved a man from certain death after he jumped off a Route 23 bridge outside of Appalachia.
The sheriff said deputies Anthony Walsh and Alex Stallard used their crisis training to talk to the distraught man who was threatening suicide.
The officers caught the man in the air as he was descending from the overpass then pulled him to safety. Kilgore said the deputies were to be commended for their swift actions and compassion in the field.
