NCAA Hands Down Two Year Suspension On ETSU Athletic Program
East Tennessee State University’s athletic program has been placed on a two year probation for NCAA violations within the men’s tennis team. ETSU self reported the violations which included providing thousands of dollars in illegal benefits to some of the men’s tennis players, mainly in the form of housing and gifts. ETSU will also be fined five thousand dollars, will forfeit some tennis matches they won and some scholarships for players will be affected as well. The school’s former coach Yaser Zaatini pleaded guilty recently to 23 felony counts of forgery and one count of theft and an ETSU investigation revealed Zaatini misappropriated more than 45 thousand dollars during a six year period
