State Liners in talks to return to Boyce Cox for ’24 season
The Bristol State Liners are in talks to return to Bristol, Virginia’s Boyce Cox Field for the upcoming Appalachian League season as the team’s new stadium in Bristol, Tennessee will not be ready for the 2024 season. The new season gets underway June 4.
The State Liners program had hoped to open a new stadium at Bristol, Tennessee’s Whitetop Creek Park this year which would have also hosted Tennessee High baseball. The original plan involved a public-private partnership with the City of Bristol, Tennessee committing 5 million, and Boyd Sports, which owns or operates the four other Tri-Cities area Appalachian League teams, to invest 2 million. Media reports say that Boyd Sports is no longer involved with the State Liners, or the new stadium.
