Missing Virginia Tech student spotted in Missouri

Authorities say a Virginia Tech student who was reported missing after he never arrived at his parents’ house in Abingdon was spotted in Missouri and appears to be “traveling on his own free will.” According to the Montgomery County, Virginia Sheriff’s Office, 20 year old Jonathan Roop was seen at a restaurant Wednesday afternoon in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Officials released a statement that said “While there are many unanswered questions, based on this personal sighting, we believe Mr. Roop is acting alone and traveling on his own free will.” Local police in Missouri tried to locate Roop but were unable to find him.
