Kingsport Police officer resigns over inappropriate photo
A sergeant of the Kingsport Police Department has resigned following an investigation into an alleged inappropriate photo. KPD was informed May 14 of reported actions by Sergeant Daniel Horne that “did not meet the standard of conduct expected from City of Kingsport personnel.” An investigation found that Horne had taken the photo at work while in uniform, and then sent it to a contact through social media. Horne was placed on administrative leave Tuesday afternoon and resigned Friday. In an email, the city said the reported conduct violates city policy. The internal investigation into the matter has been closed. Horne had served as a police officer for 20 years.
