Downtown Centre Parking Garage to offer free weekend parking hours

Beginning Friday, the Johnson City Development Authority will launch free weekend parking hours in the Downtown Centre Parking Garage at the corner of East Market and Buffalo Streets. The JCDA Board of Commissioners recently voted to conduct a 60-day trial period for free public parking, during set hours. The authority has invested in lighting upgrades, installed a new security camera system, and allocated funds for on-site security personnel during set hours for 9 weekends. Commissioners will re-examine impact and funding in July. For 9 weeks, the parking garage will be free to the public on Fridays from 6PM until Midnight, Saturdays from Noon until Midnight and Sunday from Noon until 6:00 PM. Overnight parking will be prohibited, with towing enforced at closing.
