One Dead in Officer Involved Shooting in Jonesborough

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation will be conducting and investigation into an officer involved shooting that has left one dead. According to the Jonesborough Department of Public Safety, Jonesborough Police responded to a call at the the Country Inn & Suites Friday afternoon regarding an individual causing a disturbance. When officers arrived on scene they found the individual armed with a knife. He refused officers commands and began to flee the scene on foot. The individual fell to his knees and as officers approached him he began swinging his knife at them. It was at that point an officer fired his weapon at the individual striking him in the chest and killing them. District Attorney, Tony Clark has been contacted and the persons identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
