National championship women’s wrestling coach Jason Moorman and King University split
Two weeks before the start of their 2024-25 campaign, King University wrestling coach and three time national champion Jason Moorman parted ways.
Moorman had been in Bristol for the past 18 years and led the women’s wrestling program to lofty heights including finishing the top 6 of national teams each year since 2011. Moorman was also the collegiate coach for Sarah Hildebrand–an Olympic gold medalist in wrestling at this year’s Summer Games in Paris.\
A statement from the school said Moorman was no longer at King as of Friday and a nationwide search would begin to find his replacement. In a statement issued to FloWrestling.com, Moorman did not disclose the reason for the split but noted the decision was not because of something related to inappropriate incidents, harm, or mistreatment of female student athletes. He was also complementary of current and past team members and his time in Bristol.
