Bill Would Keep Guns Out Of Hands Of Mentally Ill Individuals
Northeast Tennessee Republican lawmaker Rusty Crowe is hoping a bill he is sponsoring will help keep guns out of the hands of mentally ill individuals. Crowe’s bill would require the psychiatric units of Tennessee hospitals to alert law enforcement every time someone is committed involuntarily. Crowe says most involuntary commitments in Tennessee occur in the psychiatric units of acute care hospitals and not in mental health hospitals.
