Elizabethton Bank Robbery Suspect Caught in Johnson City

The suspect in the Carter County Bank robbery IN Elizanethton has been captured. The man was taken into custody during the morning hours in Johnson City.

According to Johnson City Police Chief Jason Shaw an officer spotted the vehicle used in the robbery and pulled it over. A female driver identified a roomate named Jerry Bowman who had supposedly admitted the crime to her.

Police followed up on the lead and took Bowman into custody. In his wallet a $20 bill matching the serial numbers of one of the stolen bills was identified. Investigators also recovered a .45-caliber pistol from Bowman alongside his confession during the arrest.
