Tennessee legislature passes bill limiting hemp sales

Tennessee’s House and Senate have passed a bill that would drastically limit the sale of a kind of hemp in Tennessee, which means many products currently being sold will be removed from stores. The bill also gives regulatory authority to alcohol regulators and not the agriculture department. Smoke shops across the state opposed the measure, saying it would decimate their businesses. Data from the Tennessee Department of Revenue says hemp derived products generated more than $11 million in tax revenue for the state.
