Tennessee Could Enact Sports Betting Without Changes To State Constitution…Attorney General
While southwest Virginia lawmakers prepare to file necessary paperwork in the General Assembly that could lead to a referendum vote on a proposed resort and casino in Bristol, Tennessee’s Attorney General says the Volunteer state could enact sports betting without changes to the state constitution. Attorney General Herb Slatery’s opinion states the General Assembly may legalize the contest solely through legislative action as long as the sport is based on skill and not predominately on chance.
