Crash on I-81 Kills Elizabethton Woman, Injures Two
A multi-car crash on Interstate 81 leaves one dead and two others injured.
According to the Kingsport Police Department, officers responded to an accident near exit 59 on Interstate 81 Saturday evening.
An initial investigation into the crash revealed that Sherry Gregg, 53, of Elizabethton was driving northbound on I-81 when she swerved off the left side of the road, crossing into the median and hitting a cable barrier before coming to rest sideways in the northbound lane.
Further information found that another car driven by Peter Pham, 55, was traveling behind Gregg, and did not see her disabled vehicle, striking the car in the drivers side.
Gregg died as a result, and Pham as well as one of the passengers in his car were taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Kingsport Police Department traffic unit.
