TN State Survey Finds Seatbelt Usage Up for 2018

The rates of seatbelt usage among motorists in the Volunteer State are on the rise.

A survey for 2018 from Tennessee officials found that nearly 91% of Tennesseans are buckling up, that percentage up from 88% in 2017.

Data was collected at nearly 200 pre-identified roadways across the state, and researchers observed over 27,000 people in the front seats.

The Tennessee Highway Safety Office says this the first time the survey found seat belt usage exceeding the 90 percent mark.

The national average for seatbelt usage was at 90.1%, and Tennessee becomes the 24th state to reach the 90 percent mark or above.
