Sullivan County School Board Votes On Controversial Textbook…Ok’s Possible Purchase

The Sullivan County School Board is considering purchasing a controversial textbook viewed by some as promoting the Islamic Religion. Tuesday night board members approved to allow the use of a seventh grade social studies textbook titled My World, if the school system chooses to purchase the book. Some parents in attendance voiced concerns that the textbook favors Islam. The approval doesn’t require the use of the textbook, but only approves the possible purchase of the textbook should the school system choose to use the book.
