TN State Parks Earn Go Green Achievements; Roan Mountain Among Parks to Earn Gold Status
State Parks in the Volunteer State are being recognized for their efforts in practicing environmental sustainability.
According to the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, one park received platinum status, nine parks received gold status, and the other remaining 46 parks received silver and bronze statuses. Of the parks in Northeast Tennessee, Roan Mountain earned a gold status.
Sustainability practices are broken down into nine categories including education and outreach, recycling and waste, and energy efficiency.
