Kingsport Couple Accused of Child Abuse and Neglect Due in Court Today

A Kingsport couple charged with child abuse and neglect are due in court Tuesday.

Dean Sparks, 37, and his wife Kayla Sparks were arrested last week after firefighters were called to their home for a structure fire. Although there was no fire found, Sparks says he was using a homemade flamethrower for a fire demonstration. Kingsport officers were granted access to search the home and found unsanitary conditions in the home, as well as pills.

Authorities also discovered multiple children lived at the home, but were not there at the time of the incident.
