Budget Committee Still Looking For Chance To Review Budget Increase For Sheriff’s Office

The Sullivan County Budget Committee will try again this Wednesday to discuss a proposal to increase the Sheriff’s Budget by one million to add 20 new jail employees. The committee has yet to discuss the proposal that was unanimously approved by the County Commission last week. Commissioners agree there is a need for more employees but not at the expense of supporting a tax increase to fund the project.
