Downtown Johnson City Police substation approved

Johnson City commissioners approved a lease agreement allowing the police department to open a substation in the Downtown Centre building, owned by the Johnson City Development Authority. The lease is for a small section that once housed Northeast State Community College’s Johnson City campus and gives the city’s homeless outreach coordinator a space to work from. The substation will also be used by patrol officers. Under the lease agreement, the city will pay $1 annually for the space.
