Bill Would Elevate Nurse Practitioners In Southwest Virginia
Access to better health care in Southwest Virginia could be in the making after a bill passes in the Virginia Legislature. The bill if signed by the governor would elevate the profession of Nurse Practitioners. Currently Practitioners work under a combined practice agreement with a doctor…the new law would east that restriction after the practitioner spends five years training with the doctor. The doctor would then sign off and the practitioners would then be allowed to go into southwest Virginia and practice outside the office setting…especially in rural areas in the region.
