Kingsport Schools Slashing Budget…Blames Sullivan County Commissioners
They blame it on Sullivan County…That’s the reasoning behind a million dollars in cuts being made by the Kingsport School System. Among those cuts include, no cost of living raises for employees, no drivers education courses and increases in tuition for out of district students. The city says those cuts are being made after Sullivan County Commissioners slashed money used by Kingsport to help the county settle a lawsuit with the Sheriff’s Department and to pay on a 140 million dollar bond issue for a new Science and Technology wing at Dobyns Bennett and a new middle school in Bristol.
