Virginia chosen to participate in federal pilot program
The Commonwealth of Virginia could be moving to the forefront of the drone technology revolution. Virginia has been chosen as one of the ten states to participate in a federal pilot program. The goal of the program is to increase government and commercial use of unmanned aircraft. The commonwealth was picked out of 149 applicants, and its proposal focuses on applications in package delivery, emergency management, and infrastructure inspections. Virginia Tech will oversee the program. Its drone test site is in Blacksburg.
