Virginia Lawmakers Looking For Ways To Improve Interstate 81
If the General Assembly in Virginia has its way, there could be some improvements in store for a heavily traveled thoroughfare in the region. Virginia lawmakers have ordered a study to find ways of making those improvements. The Interstate 81 corridor improvement plan could include tolls for heavy commercial trucks that use the highway. The revenue generated would then be used for roadway improvements including ways to cut down on interstate crashes. A meeting is scheduled for June 6 in Bristol to discuss the issue with concerned citizens.
