Hawkins County Crash results in man airlifted to hospital, charges pending
In Hawkins County, a local man was airlifted to an area hospital after a single car accident.
The crash occurred on Burem Road where James Burke of Kingsport was traveling South in a Pontiac G6. According to Tennessee Highway Patrol, Burke ran off the roadway and struck a tree head on.
The driver was airlifted to Holston Valley Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries and interviewed by Tennessee Highway troopers. Authorities have reasons to believe Burke was driving impaired.
He gave consent to a blood test, and charges are pending based on the results. Burke was also driving on a suspended license with active warrants.
