Johnson City making plans to revitalize more of its downtown, starting with citizen input
Johnson City Officials are looking to bring more improvements to the city—connecting downtown to East Tennessee State University.
Recently, the city of Johnson City has been reaching out for feedback on improvement suggestions to the West Walnut Street corridor. The city plans to start revitalizing in the near future.
While this is a great plus for the city, some business owners in the are are concerned about significant changes to their properties. Others have suggested turning the corridor into a boardwalk-style scene like in Mrytle Beach or Gatlinburg.
These are all things the city has to consider as they move forward with the revitalization plan. The drafted plan is due to the city by the end of the month, and the final review will take place in July. The final plan is set to go forth to the City Commission in August.
