Plan to divide downtown Kingsport into districts released to city officials for consideration
Downtown Kingsport could be getting a face-lift, pending a multi-million dollar downtown master plan.
The plan would divide the 200 acre downtown area into separate districts—including two districts primarily for housing and a portion of the Academic Village.
Planners are also looking at a potential brewery in the post office space, and other potential buildings that could be used for entertainment purposes. The projects would take place over the next 20 years.
The plan was released for city officials for consideration.
