Kingsport Aldermen Approve Budget, At The Expense Of Special Programs

They balanced next years operating budget, but the Kingsport Board of Mayor and Alderman did so at the expense of several special programs that saw their budgets slashed by 20 percent. Kingsport was dealing with a 644 thousand dollar budget shortfall to city schools. Tuesday night city leaders approved the spending document but made cuts to several programs including, 20 percent cuts to the Downtown Kingsport Association, Healthy Kingpsport and Keep Kingsport Beautiful. The budget does not include a property tax increase.
