Kingsport Man Who Shot At Officer Now Facing New Charges

A Kingsport man is facing new charges and is scheduled for court Friday following a shootout with a Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper. 25 year old Kenneth Powell is accused of shooting at the trooper who pulled him over in Greene County on Interstate 81 back in May. The trooper returned fire and wounded Powell, who is now also charged with theft of a vehicle, evading arrest, resisting a traffic stop, simple possession of drugs and driving without a license. Powell is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
