Hawkins Commission Approves Additional Two Percent COLA Increase For Some Employees

Nearly one hundred Hawkins County employees will be seeing a four percent increase in a proposed cost of living adjustment…but those same employees will have to wait and see about a new employee pay scale that would provide annual step pay increases. The commission agreed to add an additional two percent increase to a two percent hike already included in the 2018-2019 budget. A majority of the commissioners think discussions on the pay scale should be taken up again in October. The additional two percent increase is expected to cost the county an estimated 40 thousand dollars.
