Lee County Proposal To Arm Teachers May Not Be Legal Under Virginia Law
In a story we first told you about last week, Lee County Virginia School Board members voted to allow their teachers to arm themselves beginning next month when classes take up again. But now, a high ranking State security administrator says that might not happen. Secretary of Public Safety and Homeland Security Chief Brian Moran says the proposal approved last week is now being reviewed to see if Virginia law will actually allow teachers to be armed with guns. Moran suggests schools use resource officers who are trained law enforcement officers. But many counties do not have the funds to support School Resource Officers.
