Patrick Henry High School Student Charged After Injuring Substitute Teacher
A Patrick Henry High School student has been charged with malicious wounding after allegedly shoving a substitute teacher.
According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office a school resource officer was the first to report the disturbance. A 17-year-old male student became agitated during the class.
When the substitute handed the teen a paper assignment he became more frustrated and got up to leave the class. The teacher told him to sit back down and the student shoved the 83-year-old retired teacher who fell backwards, hitting his head on the teacher’s desk.
The educator is at the Bristol Regional Medical Center in intensive care where he has been treated for internal bleeding and had to get staples.
The 17-year-old boy is charged with malicious wounding and is being held at the Highlands Detention Center.
