Unicoi County Firefighter Injured In Sunday Morning Blaze

A Unicoi County firefighter was injured early Sunday morning battling a blaze on Unicoi Drive. The State Fire Marshall’s Office has been called in to investigate the blaze that totally destroyed a currently abandoned building. The fireman was injured when he fell while fighting the fire. Heavy winds made putting the fire out difficult and it took five departments and over 40 firefighters to contain the blaze. The fireman was taken to JCMC and treated for his injuries and is recovering.
