Workplace Accident Claims the Life of Worker in Abingdon

A man has died following a workplace accident at the Mid Mountain Distribution Center in Abingdon.

The man was electrocuted and fell more than 30 feet off of a structure on Monday. Emergency crew were called to the facility around 1:30 p.m. They transported the man by medical helicopter to a local hospital.

The company confirmed the worker was a contractor but have not released his name out of respect to the family.

Food City released this statement, “ We are saddened by the loss and wish to express our deepest sympathies to the family.”
