Drug Investigation In Washington County, Virginia So Far Nets 31 Arrests

A lengthy investigation in Washington County, Virginia has so far netted the arrests of 31 individuals on drugs and weapons charges…including an Abingdon based attorney. Five agencies, from two states along with agents of the DEA and ATF are conducting Operation Ice Harvest and rounding up suspects after a grand jury handed down 136 indictments for 48 individuals. Charges ranged from the sale of various drugs including methamphetamine, soboxone and morphine and weapons violations. Among those arrested is 57 year old George Ed Chip Barker Jr. Barker, an Abingdon attorney is accused of conspiracy and attempting to smuggle drugs to an inmate. The round up continues as authorities are still in the process of arresting sixteen more suspects.
